<span style="font-size: xx-small;">O experimento de Louis Pasteur.</span></div><div align="justify"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; font-size: small;">Adepto da teoria biogênica, Louis Pasteur em 1861, através de um experimento, conseguiu demonstrar conclusivamente a impossibilidade da geração espontânea da vida (hipótese tão defendida pelos abiogenistas), ou seja, a origem da vida somente é possível a partir da matéria viva, de um ser vivo preexistente. <br />

No experimento, Pasteur adicionou um caldo nutritivo a um balão de vidro com gargalo alongado. Em seguida aqueceu o gargalo, imprimindo a esse um formato de tubo curvo (pescoço de cisne). Após a modelagem prosseguiu com a fervura do caldo, submetendo-o a uma temperatura até o estado estéril (ausência de micro-organismo), porém permitindo que o caldo tivesse contato com o ar. </span> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; font-size: small;"><br />

Depois da fervura, deixando o balão em repouso por muito tempo, percebeu que o líquido permanecia estéril. Isso foi possível devido a dois fatores: </span> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; font-size: small;"><br />

O primeiro foi consequente ao empecilho físico, causado pela sinuosidade do gargalo. O segundo ocasionado pela adesão de partículas de impureza e micro-organismos às gotículas de água formadas na superfície interna do gargalo durante a condensação do vapor, emitido pelo aquecimento e resfriado quando em repouso. </span> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; font-size: small;"><br />
